Providing compassionate end-of-life care at home

Our Euthanasia Services & Fees

Why Pet Euthanasia At Home?

  • The vet’s office is associated with unfamiliar smells, thermometers, and white coats. Even though pets do not understand or anticipate death, they do anticipate discomfort.
  • At home, your pet is at his or her most comfortable. They don’t need to leave their favorite spot in the sun or move when they are in pain.
  • You can be there by yourself or with the whole extended family. You can take your time, plus you don’t need to drive home afterward.
  • Death is a major life transition. Euthanasia at home minimizes the medical aspect of this transition and allows you to focus on your pet.
  • You can have the option to have our veterinarian come into your home. Cherished Companion is a unique service in that you also have the option to bring your pet into our mobile clinic van if you prefer the procedure is not done directly in your home, but still at your front door.

What to Expect?

Our veterinarian will arrive and greet you and your pet, followed by a quality-of-life exam. We will review the process and answer any questions, followed by necessary paperwork. All fees are taken care of at this time as well.

We will administer a sedative plus a pain medication to allow your pet to relax into a deep sedation in about 10-15 minutes. You will be right by their side. We will inform you of the final procedure, allowing you to decide to stay or seek comfort in another location.

Lisa’s Experience

"On May 20, 2022, I had to make the difficult and heart-wrenching decision to euthanize my precious 12-year-old dog Dior, after she became acutely ill and declined rapidly despite immediate emergency and specialty care. When it became clear that Dior would not recover, I reached out to her general practice veterinarian Dr. Dionne for guidance and was pleased and relieved to learn that she was able to assist us. I cannot thank Dr. Dionne enough for ensuring that the day of the procedure went as smoothly and comforting as possible. She accommodated my schedule, answered all questions, patiently waited as several family members spent their last moments with Dior, and was especially sensitive to my 89-year-old father who had a very special bond with Dior. Throughout the procedure, Dior remained comfortable without any outward signs of discomfort or pain. During the initial phase, I was able to hold Dior and she laid calmly in my lap. Ultimately, her final moments ended quietly and peacefully. Although the loss of Dior was extremely difficult, Dr. Dionne's professionalism, compassion, easy-going manner, and follow-up contact with my family was invaluable and healing."
